There are actually not a whole lot of aspects to separate the video poker games you're going to encounter in the traditional casino setting and what you would find on the internet. When it comes to the way the game is conducted, it comes through a computer-generated program, so online video poker is a very similar experience to that which is offered in the "brick and mortar" atmosphere. If you're looking for some kind of difference, it is slight; online video poker on your computer operates on a point-and-click basis, while the video poker game that you might find in the "physical" casino setting uses a touch screen. The rules of the games are very similar. One of the good things about the game of video poker, which makes it more comfortable in terms of how to play it, is that you are basically in control of the pace of the game and can play it at your own speed, implementing your own video poker strategy.

When you come across a video poker game, you first have to learn the different decisions that are available to you, and how to implement them. In online video poker, these decisions are represented by buttons you will see on the interface. When you see the term "Bet One," for example, this means the amount of money you are going to wager on any one hand of online video poker, and when you see "bet Max," which is generally right next to it, it signifies the most money you can bet on any one round of that online video poker game. You then click "Deal" to initiate being dealt a five-card hand, and remember that you are not free to get the deal started until you have made the wager. As you examine your cards, and determine the best way to proceed, you will decide whether to keep some of the cards and discard others. Instead of taking two or three cards (or whatever number it is) and throwing them in the middle, as you would do if you were playing Five-Card Draw at a physical casino, you actually select those cards on the screen that you wish to keep.

In online video poker, you are going to click the "Hold" button to execute this. Video poker games then are programmed to eliminate all the cards you did not hold and put them in a virtual discard rack. After this, you move on to the next step in online video poker, making a "Draw" of new cards, which is represented by a button on the video poker game interface. When you get your new cards, that is basically the end of the hand. At that point, you are notified as to whether you won or lost the hand and are paid accordingly. But how do you know how much you are getting paid? Well, video poker casino games have a specific pay table that tells you how much each particular winning hand pays. And the hands that qualify for such a payout differ, according to the rules for the variation of video poker you are playing. You could conceivably get paid on a pair of Jacks or better, three of a kind, four of kind, a straight, a flush, all the way up to a Royal Flush, at which point you will be "in the chips" for sure! When you get the hang of it, it's easy. Just learn how to play a winning strategy, and your bankroll will grow! Check out more video poker tips.
